Sun Yat-sen Hospital Partners with Essen to Carry on Summer Academy

By partnering with the University of Duisburg-Essen, Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital has selected three young doctors to attend the virtual Summer Academy 2021, from August 16th to August 27th. They are Dr. Long Tengfei from the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. Li Hongwei from the Department of Cardiology, and Dr. Wu Tao from the Department of Rheumatology.

It’s the eighth time for the hospital to send doctors to join the Summer Academy, which is arranged by the University of Duisburg-Essen, and jointly organized by the Union Hospital of Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and Shanghai Medical College of Fudan University, as well as Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University.

Given the pandemic, this years Summer Academy is arranged online, and invites professors from both China and Germany to give virtual lectures focusing on the theme of infection and immunity. World-renowned experts such as Professor Ulf Dittmer, Professor Mengji Lu, Professor Ruth Broering, Professor Kathrin Sutter, and Professor Sven Brandau are invited to share their studies on T cell regulation, tumor immunotherapy, virus infection and immunity, and the application of calcium phosphate nano materials in the field of biomedicine. The program also offers a session for discussion and consultation each day, encouraging in-depth exchanges and understanding of the discussed topics.

 Since the establishment of partnership with the University of Duisburg-Essen in 2014, Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital has made remarkable achievements in the exchange and training of medical talents. Until September this year, 23 young doctors have been sent to participate in the Summer Academy, and a total of 10 doctors to Germany for long-term training. The collaborated program not only provides with an international platform for sharing frontier knowledge, but also facilitates building a talent pool as the essential for solid cooperation in the further (by Office of International Affairs).
