SYSMH Holds the 2026 High-Quality Development Conference and Yixian Management Forum
On April 25, 2026, Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital (SYSMH) convened the 2026 High-Quality Development Work Conference and Yixian Management Forum, with the aim of fully advancing the implementation of the hospital’s 15th Five-Year Plan. The event was held at the Huadu Campus and live-streamed to other campuses. Professor Song Erwei, Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Director of Medical Faculty of Sun Yat-sen University, and Academic Leader of the Breast Tumor Center at SYSMH, as well as Professor Yao Zhibin, Chief Expert on Science and Humanities of the Guangdong Medical Association, attended the conference. Hospital leaders and core management personnel were present to conduct discussions.
Conference Venue
At the conference, Professor Chen Yangxin, President of SYSMH, delivered a keynote report summarizing the hospital’s new breakthroughs under the 14th Five-Year Plan in campus construction, medical services, scientific research, talent cultivation, medical education and social responsibility. He stressed that the 15th Five-Year Plan period brings both opportunities and challenges, and the hospital will steadily advance eight key tasks in the next stage: to further enhance the multi-campus model; accelerate the building of a high-level talent team; reinforce discipline development and scientific and technological innovation; optimize the integrated operation and management of multi-campus layout; adhere to the people-centered health philosophy and establish a whole-life-cycle health service system; speed up the construction of a smart hospital; promote the sinking and expansion of medical resources, and deepen international exchanges and cooperation to actively expand high-quality international medical services.

Next, Vice Presidents Yao Herui, Tang Yamei, Chen Suijun, Huang Hai, Deputy Party Secretary Zhang Liangyou, and Chief Accountant Li Caixia delivered reports aligned with national strategies and Guangdong’s development goals. They reviewed 14th Five-Year achievements and proposed next-phase strategies, charting a clear course for the hospital’s high-quality development.

Yang Jianlin, Party Secretary of the hospital, concluded that as the first Western hospital in modern China, SYSMH carries a profound historical legacy and a mission of industry leadership. In light of the requirements for high-quality development in the new era, he called for unified thinking and consensus around three key points: first, continuing to pursue a research-oriented hospital that integrates clinical practice with scientific research for mutual advancement; second, strengthening internal capacity, optimizing resource allocation, enhancing refined management and improving governance efficiency; and third, encouraging all staff to align their personal career plans with the hospital's development goals, take dedicated responsibility in their posts, thereby pooling collective strength to drive the hospital's progress.

Under the theme "integrating the hospital's multi-campus development pattern to drive the implementation of key tasks of the 15th Five-Year Plan," the conference held eight group discussions. Participants spoke openly and offered recommendations on multi-campus construction, disciplinary development, talent cultivation, research innovation, management efficiency, and international medical.
