Its expertise in managing gynecological endocrine conditions is at a leading level in the province and an advanced level nationally. The annual case volume handled by gynecological endocrinology specialists and specialty clinics exceeds 50,000. In the field of diagnosis, treatment, and management of menopausal disorders, it holds a leading position in Guangdong Province and an advanced standing nationally. As a primary drafting unit, it participated in compiling the latest national guidelines for menopause management and menopausal hormone therapy. The department has consecutively organized the national continuing medical education course "Course on Diagnosis and Treatment of Gynecological Endocrine Diseases and Comprehensive Menopause Management" for 11 years, driving advancements in menopause management both within the province and across the country.
As early as the 1980s, the department of General Gynecology pioneered hysteroscopic and laparoscopic techniques in China. Currently, its hysteroscopic examination and surgical techniques are at a leading provincial and advanced national level. The annual number of hysteroscopic examinations and various surgeries consistently leads the province. The department possesses techniques such as hysteroscopic cold knife and mechanical morcellation, attracting a large number of visiting physicians from across the country. It employs conventional laparoscopy, single-port laparoscopy, and transvaginal laparoscopy for diagnosing and treating gynecological benign conditions including infertility, endometriosis, adenomyosis, uterine tumors, ovarian tumors, reproductive tract anomalies, and pelvic floor dysfunction disorders. The department's research projects, the "Series of Studies on Prevention and Treatment of Diseases Related to Middle-Aged and Elderly Women" and "Research on Hysteroscopic Surgery," were awarded the Third Prize of the Guangdong Health Science and Technology Progress Award and the Third Prize of the Guangdong Science and Technology Commission Science and Technology Progress Award, respectively. These projects received over 4 million RMB in total funding from various grants and have resulted in the publication of more than 30 SCI-indexed papers.
