The Medical Examination Center of SYSMH was established in 2004 as one of the earliest health examination centers in China. It currently serves as the Vice-Chair Unit of the Guangdong Provincial Health Commission's Professional Medical Quality Control Center for Health Management (Physical Examination) and holds vice-chair positions in multiple professional academic bodies, including the Health Examination Management Branch of the Guangdong Medical Association and the Health Examination Committee of the Guangdong Health Management Association. In alignment with the "Healthy China 2030" initiative, the center was officially renamed the "Health Management Center of Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University" in March 2023, committing to a whole-life-cycle health management model focused on "early screening, early assessment, and early intervention."
Echoing the hospital's integrated development strategy, the Shenshan Branch established its Health Management (Physical Examination) Center in 2021, and the Huadu Branch Center is set to open soon. The main center comprises two independent sections: the VIP Health Examination Department (located on the second floor of Zhongshan Building) and the General Health Examination Department. It boasts a multidisciplinary and highly qualified health management team of 49 staff members, including 8 senior professionals. All physicians hold master's degrees or higher, and over 90% of the nursing team, led by senior nurses, are certified health managers and public nutritionists. Leveraging the century-old hospital's robust medical expertise and adhering to a "people-centered, service-first" philosophy, the center provides professional, high-quality health management and medical care services year-round to individual clients and hundreds of enterprises and institutions. The center offers specialized examinations in internal medicine, surgery, gynecology, ophthalmology, and otolaryngology, along with dedicated facilities for clients, including color Doppler ultrasound (cardiac and transvaginal), electrocardiography (ECG), fully automated non-invasive arterial stiffness detectors, body composition analyzers, liver transient elastography devices, and fundus cameras for direct vascular and retinal nerve observation. It also features an industry-leading magnetically controlled capsule endoscopy room and shares the hospital's advanced equipment and technologies, such as PET-CT, Philips 3.0T MR (Ingenia), Siemens Force CT, electronic gastroscopy/colonoscopy, and painless electronic gastroscopy/colonoscopy. Tailoring services to industry needs and population characteristics, the center provides multi-tiered health examination packages and promotes personalized "1+X" custom plans based on individual circumstances. In recent years, it has introduced specialized screenings, including the latest gene-based early cancer detection tests (e.g., BRCA1/2 for breast/ovarian cancer susceptibility, multi-cancer susceptibility panels), simple and efficient colorectal cancer screening via fecal FIT-DNA testing and microRNA-92a detection, as well as cardiovascular risk assessments (APOE genotyping, MTHFR gene testing), alcohol metabolism gene analysis, immune function evaluations (lymphocyte subset analysis), allergen screening, and food intolerance testing. These comprehensive assessments for health status evaluation and management have been widely welcomed by clients.
The center places a high priority on quality, implementing rigorous controls throughout the pre-examination, examination, and post-examination processes. Clients can book services, access reports, and seek post-examination expert consultations via WeChat or the hospital and center websites.
