Dr. Tan specializes in clinical diagnosis and treatment of children's rheumatic immune diseases and respiratory system. In-depth research on the etiology, pathogenesis, prevention and treatment methods of asthma, carried out children's allergen detection and desensitization treatment, lung function testing and fiber bronchoscopy projects, established children's atomization center and standardized management path of children's asthma .

In 2000, he went to Kobe University as a trainee for the friendly exchange between Guangdong Province and Hyogo Prefecture, Japan. In 2014, the Pediatric Rheumatology Department was established in the Second Zhongshan Hospital, which has now become an important base for the treatment of children’s rheumatism and immune diseases in South China.

Dr. Tan presided over 4 projects of Guangdong Provincial Scientific Research Fund, and participated in two projects of the National "Eleventh Five-Year Science and Technology" and two projects of National Natural Science Foundation of China. He has published more than 70 papers.
