Jun Liu, deputy chief physician of the department of neurology in Sun Yat-sen memorial hospital, received bachelor's degree in clinical medicine from Sun Yat-sen Medical University in 1997 and doctor's degree in clinical neurology from Sun Yat-sen Medical University in 2002. From 2006 to 2008, he was a postdoctoral researcher in the Dementia and Aging Disease Laboratory, Kansas University Medical School, USA.
He has been engaged in the medical, teaching and research work of neurology. He has rich clinical experience in the diagnosis and treatment of various common and rare diseases in neurology and specializing in neurodegenerative diseases, cerebrovascular diseases, infectious diseases of the nervous system, dizziness, headache and sleep disorders, as well as the treatment of acute and critical patients in the neurology.
In the field of scientific research, he focuses especially on the molecular biological pathogenesis, neuropathology, as well as the basic and clinical research of drug intervention and treatment of Alzheimer's disease and radiation nerve injury.
Currently, he is a member of the Dementia and Cognitive Disorder Group of Neurology Branch of Chinese Medical Association, a member of the Cognitive Disorder Professional Committee of Neurology Branch of Chinese Medical Doctor Association, a chairman of the Neurology Professional Committee of Guangdong Medical Association, and a chairman of the Alzheimer's Disease Special Committee of Guangdong Precision Medicine Application Society, the chairman of the Dementia and Cognitive Impair Committee of the Neurological Rehabilitation Society of Guangdong Province. He holds various academic posts such as general and key project evaluation expert of National Natural Science Foundation of China.
In recent years, he has published 39 SCI articles as the first author/corresponding author in Biomaterials, JBC, CNS Neurosci Ther, AM J NeuroRadio, Front Neurosci and other important journals. In 2015, he was invited to serve as the chief editor of BioMed Res INT, and completed the publication of the special issue Tissue Engineering in Gene and Cell Therapies for Neurological Disorders, which won international recognition.
In 2016, he hosted the first "Yat-sen Dementia International Summit Forum", aiming to promote academic exchanges in the field of dementia. Since then, he has held 5 "Yat-sen Dementia International Summit Forum" and 2 "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Cognitive Impairment Summit Forum", which has gained certain popularity at home and abroad.
In 2017, he founded the Institute of Cognition in Guangdong, aiming to raise the public's awareness of cognitive disorders, improve the level of standard diagnosis and treatment, provide guidance for the cognitive rehabilitation to patients' families, build a platform for medical care and doctor-patient communication, and cultivate more neurologists engaged in cognitive research. He also established The Multi-center Clinical Research Database of Alzheimer's Disease in South China to promote clinical research on cognitive impairment.
In 2017, he was awarded the title of "Outstanding Young Neurologist of China" by the Neurological Branch of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association.
In 2018, he was awarded the title of "Outstanding Young Medical Talents of Guangdong Province" and "Good Doctor of Yangcheng".
