Prof. Song Erwei Selected as Leading Talent in Scientific and Technological Innovation of the Second Batch of Ten Thousand Talents Program

According to the recently announced list of the second batch of “Ten Thousand Talents Program”, Prof. Song Erwei from Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hospital, Sun Yat-Sen University, has been chosen as one of the leading talents in scientific and technological innovation. Two other professors from Sun Yat-Sen University have also been selected. They are Prof. Xu Anlong from School of Life Sciences, and Prof. Su Chengyong from School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering.

The “Ten Thousand Talents Program” was launched in 2012 to support 10 thousand Chinese talents for the next 10 years in seven categories, which include talents in natural sciences, engineering, philosophy, social sciences and higher education; leading talents in scientific and technological innovation; leading talents in scientific and technological entrepreneurship; leading talents in philosophy and social sciences; renowned teachers; leading talents in Hundred-Thousand-Ten Thousand Talents Project; and top-notch young talents.

The aim of fostering leading talents in scientific and technological innovation is to allow young and middle-aged talents to undertake major scientific and technological tasks and to lead the scientific development in their own fields.

A total of 72 leading talents in scientific and technological innovation have selected in the first batch and 200 in the second batch of the program. The number of talents from SYSU selected in the second batch ranked the third among the universities nationwide.
