Prof. Erwei Song shared his latest studies at UDE
This agreement was signed during our delegates’ visit to University of Duisburg-Essen (UDE) from June 26 to 27. While visiting Essen University Hospital’s Breast Cancer Center, Surgery Department, Institute of Virology, and Lehr- und Lernzentrum, our delegates have met and discussed research topics with Prof. Martin Heubner from Breast Cancer Center, Prof. Andreas Paul from Surgery Department, and Prof. Sven Brandau from Department of Otorhinolaryngology. Prof. Erwei Song, academic leader of the Breast Tumor Center at SYSH, was also invited to share his latest studies at the Academic Symposium of University of Duisburg-Essen. His presentation have drawn great attention and won positive feedbacks in UDE.
University of Duisburg-Essen was founded in 1654 and re-established on 1 January 2003 as a merger of the Gerhard Mercator University of Duisburg and the University of Essen. It is a public university and one of the 10 largest key comprehensive universities in Germany. The Faculty of Medicine is a key and traditional faculty at University of Duisburg-Essen, with research priorities to Heart and Circulation, Oncology, Transplantation, Genetic Medicine and Immunology and Infectiology. Essen University Hospital is a pace setter for first-rate medical services in the Ruhr metropolis. It has 26 clinics and institutes, 1291 approved beds, and 5800 employees with over 800 scientists.
Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hospital had signed a five-year collaboration agreement with Essen University Hospital 16 years ago, which had helped nurture a batch of international talents such as Prof. Erwei Song. The new collaboration will offer more possibilities for joint research projects and medical trainings in key areas of both sides. This August, three young doctors selected from SYSH will attend the Summer Academy 2014 at Essen University Hospital. Hopefully, our collaboration with UDE will yield significant impact in medicine and health sciences at the global platform.
