SYSH Young Doctors Attended Essen Summer Academy 2014

From August 4th to 15th, three young doctors from Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hospital, Sun Yat-Sen University, were invited to attend Essen Summer Academy 2014 by Faculty of Medicine, University of Duisburg-Essen, after a collaboration agreement was signed by representatives of both parties on June 26th. They are TAN Qin from Department of Endocrinology, SI Yu from E.N.T. Department, and YU Xianhuan from HPB Surgical Department.

With the title “Infection and Immunity”, the academy was consisted of lectures and lab visits. Young doctors could not only learn about the latest studies in the field, but also carry out productive exchanges with the professors of University of Duisburg-Essen. Fourteen Medical students from Tongji Medical School and Fudan University also joined the academy.

Started in 2011, Essen Summer Academy was was organized by University of Duisburg-Essen to recruit excellent students on an annual basis from Tongji Medical School and Fudan University. This year, three open positions were offered to Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hospital, Sun Yat-Sen University, along with a fellowship of 600 Euro per person. It is aimed to promote both parties’ collaboration as well as providing an opportunity for the young doctors to broaden their horizons.
