SYSMH Team Wins 2023 National Award for Science and Technology Progress

The conference conflating the National Science and Technology Conference, the National Science and Technology Award Conference, the 21st General Assembly of Academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the 17th General Assembly of Academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, was held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on the morning of June 24.

Primarily led by Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital (SYSMH) of Sun Yat-sen University, the scientific research project titled "Innovation and Promotion of Precision Minimally Invasive Intelligent Diagnosis and Treatment Technology for Bladder Cancer" has been awarded the second prize of the National Award for Science and Technology Progress. The main contributors include Lin Tianxin, Huang Jian, Chen Xu, Wang Jianchen, Wu Shaoxu, Fan JianBing, Chen Changhao, He Wang, Zhong Wenlong, and Feng Jiahao, among whom Lin Tianxin is the first contributor to the project.

 Bladder cancer, the most common urinary malignancy in China, affects 92,000 people with 43,000 fatalities annually. Addressing challenges like early diagnosis, misdiagnosis, severe trauma and outdated equipment, Professor Lin Tianxin and Professor Huang Jian from the Urology Department of SYSMH, along with their team, have achieved a series of innovative accomplishments over the past two decades in the areas of early diagnosis of bladder cancer, application of AI digital technology, precise minimally invasive surgery, and research and development of laparoscopic surgical robots.
